Born in 1962, in New Brunswick, Duane Gordon grew up in construction sites from Canada to Bolivia.  Gordon’s family remembers events according to where they were living when they happened. As they moved often, this provided a precise time-line of events.  Places naturally became placeholders for Gordon’s memories. Today he lives in Montreal but still seeks out architectural jewels further afield.  He admires craftsmanship and artistry that turns utilitarian shelter into a dazzling spectacle.  Architectural creations outlive builders and inhabitants and have a lasting influence on the neighbourhood, the skyline and people’s lives.  When Gordon captures them in art, he feels he continues sharing their beauty and taking their influence in a new direction, reaching new people.
