In the footsteps of Mark Rothko and the colour field painters of the 1940′s and 50′s, Julie Hawkins is a colourist who’s artwork envelopes the viewer. The viewer is transformed into a world that radiates vibrations of hues that evoke innocence, movement and pure joy. The intermingling of pattern and shape and texture dance across the canvas and transform the spaces they are in.

Hawkins’ mesmerizing paintings are a result of the stimulation of an intense colour palette that stimulates a positive emotional response. The essence of her collections begin with thematic ideas and are built up with layers of paint. Each of the pieces can work together or separately to trigger different optical effects in a variety of sizes. Finely crafted, these pieces are suitable to embellish corporate or living spaces.

Julie is married to her high school sweetheart and is the proud mother of two beautiful little girls. When she is not painting, she enjoys unwinding at her family cottage on the lake and spending time with good friends.
