Kathy Bradshaw is a Saskatoon-based artist and art educator.  She received her B.F.A. with great distinction from the U. of S. in 2005 and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Saskatchewan.  Kathy works with a range of subject matters in oil and encaustic with a special focus on the power of space in the Saskatchewan landscape.  Equally fascinated and haunted by the vastness of the Plains and the solitude and complexity within the Northern Boreal Forest, she strives to convey the landscape as a form of escape, a return to self and a means to spiritual growth.  Working on site and in her studio from sketches, photos and memory, the forces of colour, texture, light and shadow all play a powerful role in her art.  Capturing emotions from a place, a time of day, or some fragment of nature is central to her work as is the constant search for light and the idea of taking the viewer to a different, higher place.
