In this work, movement inspires me, such as water running, passing clouds, the rustling leaves, flying insects, all those objects and things surrounding us and moving with us. Evocation of the forces of nature and their influence on humanity, transformation, the ephemeral and fragility. Garments appear on the surface as a trace of the absent disappearing body.

On the paper coated with a layer of washed-out ink, I use my engraver’s tool to tear away small fragments. The patterns create the shape and nuances. I handle, scratch, tear and staple. The drawing is absorbed by the fragmented and patched surface. Questioning the material leads me outside of the frame.
Some works are bas reliefs, others are installations. They are usually mounted on stiff cardboard and presented in a way to be detached from the wall or floor. The fairly large size works are made with black ink on paper.

Biography
Diane T. Tremblay is from Saint-Ambroise de Chicoutimi (Saguenay) QC. She now lives and works in Montréal, QC.
Diane T. Tremblay is a professionnal artist who holds a Maîtrise en Arts plastiques (M.A.) from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM). She has also been teaching visual arts at the Cégep André-Laurendeau in Montréal since 1992. From 1985 to 1990 she is Co-Director of DARE-DARE Art Gallery, a centre for the presentation of interdisciplinary art in Montréal. Since then, she shares her time between her artistic production and teaching. Diane T. Tremblay regularly presents her artistic work in Montréal and in other regions of the Province of Québec. We may also find some of her creations in many private collections and in the collection of the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec.

Encre et papier 2014

Dans ce travail, je m’inspire du mouvement. Celui de l’eau qui court, des nuages qui passent, des feuilles qui bruissent, des insectes qui volent et de toutes ces choses qui nous entourent, bougeant avec nous. Évocation des forces de la nature et de leur influence sur l’humanité, la transformation, l’éphémère, la fragilité. Le vêtement y apparaît à la surface, trace du corps absent, disparu.
Sur le papier recouvert d’une couche d’encre délavée, avec mon outil de graveur, j’arrache de petits fragments. Les motifs créent la forme et les nuances. Je manipule, gratte, déchire, broche. Le dessin est absorbé par la surface morcelée et rapiécée. Questionner le matériau m’amène à sortir du cadre.
Certaines œuvres sont des bas reliefs, d’autres des installations. Elles sont généralement montées sur carton rigide et présentées de manière à se détacher du mur ou du sol. Les œuvres, d’assez grand format, sont réalisées à l’encre noire sur papier.
