I love to challenge myself by exploring new art medium combinations and breaking traditional rules. My work begins with exploring various materials’ properties through manipulation and defining my personal connection to the material. Using intuitiveness to create my unique artwork, I strive for interesting visual interplay between texture, colour, and shadow.
In my current work, I play with hardness versus softness: the softness of the material, whether it is paper or fabric, versus the hardness of the encaustic medium. I find the unique merging of mediums intriguing and creatively satisfying.
