The Al Green Gallery was founded in 2003 by Canadian real-estate developer, sculptor, and philanthropist Al Green. The gallery showcased Green’s sculptural works alongside that of fellow artists, including members of the Sculptor's Society of Canada and the Al Green Sculpture Studio and School.

Since 2009, under the leadership of his daughter Lindy Green, the gallery has broadened its focus to include all artistic mediums. It does not represent artists in the traditional manner but offers one-time commercial exhibitions to emerging, mid-career and senior artists. As well, the gallery integrates a philanthropic model whereby a significant percentage of proceeds from every exhibition is donated to a charity or cause. This unique cultural paradigm has proven to be of benefit to all exhibition partners, raising both funds and awareness.

The Al Green Gallery has also established many arts based sponsorships and student bursaries, including OCADU Indigenous Visual Culture Program; School of The Toronto Dance Theatre; Emerging Artists/Factory Theatre; Art Gems Charity Auction; The Stephen Lewis Foundation Arts Fund and The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. The gallery hosts a variety of charitable and educational events.
